OK. So you can see there are some noteable omissions. Why no Colton Orr? Where is Andrew Raycroft? Gary Valk? In all seriousness, I will get to the real omisssions later, but there is quite the collection of players on this list, many of which are centerman, so you will see some centerman who have moved over to the wing on my list because frankly, thats what I believe will happen.

Line 1:

LW-St Louis          C- Crosby               RW-Stamkos

Line 2:

LW-E. Staal           C- Getzlaf               RW- Nash

Line 3:

LW-Giroux           C- Toews             RW- Tavares

Line 4:

LW- Ladd              C- Bergeron            RW- Couture

13th Forward:

M. Richards

Extra: Pietroangelo

Price/Luongo/CAM WARD*

I’m of the belief that Yzerman is going to with a squad that is more on the upswing. he is looking for fast, youthful more so then experienced as judged by his omission of camp invites. No Iginla, No Marleau, No Heatley. Those are the main two that stick out for me. Those ommisions show the direction that he is planning to go. This obviously could change based on performances to start the year, but I think Tavares has earned a spot, Corey Perry could very well go there but I think Tavares has taken that next step into Super Star, while Perry’s game is kind of on the decline. Logan Couture I think fits Yzerman’s mold of what he wants on his team, fast, young and interchangeable at postitions. Don’t think of these lines as normal NHL lines, theses players are all 1st line players, but they’ll be asked to do things out of character, maybe its forecheck harder or backcheck harder, but thats the olympics. You have to remeber these players aren’t kids anymore, Hockey Canada made the mistake in 2006 of going for experience over skill/speed and that didn’t pay off at all. They won’t make the same mistake twice. I wouldnt be surpirsed to see Eberle, Duchene or Hall on this roster because they have such high end skill and speed. If Yzerman goes with the familiarity theme, I wouldn’t be shocked to see Patrick Sharp, James Neal, or Kunitz to play with Team Canada ‘locks’ Crosby and Toews. Regardless, this forward group is going to be one of our best. The lines are just there for sake of organiztion, essentially this is the group of forwards I believe will be on the team, not positions neccessairly.

The Defense Core should stay relatively similar to the 2010 team, as they have 4 returnee’s that I trhink are locks (Weber, Doughty, Kieth, Seabrook) Dan Boyle is a guy that I think might be on the team because of experience, but its hard to put him in over the likes of Subban, Pietroangelo or Letang, who are all bonafide studs.

Goalies…Honestly, I think Cam Ward will play his way on to this team, he is a rock back there. He was hurt for the lockout shortend season and Carolina fell apart. I think he deserved a invite and I will be very shocked if he doesn’t end up on the roster. I think Price will be the No.1 goalie, he is our best hope and was a WJC hero for Canada not too long ago. When Price is on his game, It’s hard to find a better goalie in the world.

So there ya have it folks.
